Senior Jessie Warren is making school history one stolen base at a time. This week, Jessie was officially named Athlete of the Week after breaking the school’s long-standing varsity softball stolen base record during Tuesday night’s conference matchup against North Ridge High School. With two steals in the fourth inning, Jessie recorded her 47th stolen base of the season, surpassing the previous school record of 45 set back in 2012. By the end of the game, she had added two more, bringing her season total to 49 stolen bases with several games still left to play. Known for her speed, aggressive baserunning, and leadership on and off the field, Lisa has become one of the toughest players in the conference to defend. “Every time Jessie gets on base, she changes the entire game,” said Head Coach Justine. “Her work ethic is incredible, and she’s earned every bit of this recognition.” Lisa is currently batting .462 on the season with: 49 stolen bases 38 runs scored 52 hits 21 RBIs A .517 on-base percentage Teammates say her energy is contagious and helps keep momentum alive throughout every game. “It’s honestly exciting to watch,” teammate Jennie Finch said. “The second she gets on first, everyone in the dugout knows something’s about to happen.” Jessie's record-breaking performance has helped lead the team to a 19-4 overall record and a strong push toward postseason play. Despite the attention, Jessie remains focused on team success. “It means a lot to break the record,” Jessie said after the game, “but the biggest goal is winning sectionals with this team. That’s what matters most.” Congratulations to Lisa Warren, this week’s Athlete of the Week! 🥎
